RKOcie

Dear snowmen,

To give you a sneak peek at who you'll be meeting at the tournament table, we're introducing our committee in detail. If you'd like to hear more or just have a friendly chat, you're also very welcome at the tournament table or somewhere in the hall (you'll be hard-pressed to miss us in our beautiful light blue committee jerseys).

Rob
We'll kick off this introduction round with a member who's always there for a first. He was there when we organized our very first open summer tournament in 2023, made a quick trip to organize our very first anniversary in 2024, and is now working on another first: the very first open winter tournament! Rob certainly isn't afraid of a challenge. This year, Rob couldn't get enough of the club. Besides being a member of the RTC this year, there's a good chance you've already seen him on the court as a coach, so if you'd like some tips for the tournament, you should quickly take over a training session on Thursday evening. We're happy that Rob has decided to fully focus on the most important things again this year: padel. But above all, we're thrilled to have him with us!

Laurens
No classification is too difficult for the next man we're going to introduce. He clearly proved that during the 2024 OT (Executive Tournament). So with Rob and Laurens as our team leaders, things will definitely work out. Laurens, as a former coach at the Ramenlappers, has also prepared many of you to perform optimally on the court. He's also been a delight for us for the second year as a member of the RTC. He did get lost in the Randstad for a while last year, but he's since found his way back to beautiful Groningen. Thank goodness, because what would you do without this rock, who answers your tournament questions as if he's heard them eighty times before?

Now I hear you thinking, do you really have to be a (former) coach, RTC member, and former Toeco for this committee? No way! We also have different backgrounds, although the following four do have something in common...

Megan
Now we come to our most experienced member. Megan was already a member of the Ramenlappers in 2021 and, after all these years, still hasn't had enough. She began her Ramenlappers career organizing the first legendary padel trip and served on the board in 2022-2023 as an Internal Affairs Officer, where she guided all committees (including three new ones) smoothly. That's why we couldn't wish for a better addition to our committee than the former committee leader. After her year on the board, she continued as a member of the RTC, because Megan knows a thing or two about padel. The older members among us will also remember her as a trainer, having done so for two years! After two years on the RTC, it was time for something new, and we are very happy that Megan wanted to join us in the RKO committee. It is also an honor to have her among us. Megan is ranked 143rd in the KNLTB rankings. If you'd like her autograph, we can certainly arrange it during the tournament.

After the '22-'23 board, we'll naturally have '23-'24, '24-'25, and '25-'26. Because we can't get enough of all these wonderful stories, we've got one from each year. We can even group the next three under a new group, namely the TCs. We have a whopping three generations of them among us.

Luca
Let's start with our Generation 2 TC, our dear Luca. We were thrilled that Luca could still find time to join a committee. With the General Board, Supervisory Board, multiple KasCies, ACLO front desk duties, coaching, and playing multiple sports, this young man has plenty to keep him busy besides his studies. Luckily, he was able to find a slot in his schedule for us, and it's certainly not a lack of dedication. He's our foundation for the most beautiful images and also our man of numbers—how could he be otherwise, as a former member of the ACLO Executive Board? This man isn't afraid of a brilliant feat of planning or budgeting. His Excel skills certainly aren't lacking, as he conjures up the most beautiful tables and formulas, which many RTC members can only enjoy.

Willem
And now we move on to the most recent generation of TC, our Willem. This year, Willem has the honor of filling the fantastic position of Technical Coordinator, and as if being on the board wasn't busy enough, in addition to the RTC, he's also joining a small committee, strengthening us as our beloved intern. As the position suggests, our intern is a significant addition to the committee's youth, as we're always a bit shocked when we hear what year this guy is from. Born in 2006, he's four years younger than the second-youngest member of our committee. Still, we're incredibly happy that Willem is joining us, and we couldn't have wished for a better intern. Except that arranging those bananas is taking ages.

Franca
It's certainly a great honor to have these two men as predecessor and successor, and now to also run RKO together. I'm incredibly happy with the entire committee, because they're all truly exceptional, as you've probably read for yourselves. I think there's no better committee to help organize the first Ramenkrabbers Open. That's why I'm incredibly honored to chair this committee.

We hope to see you all at the RKO!!

Love,
the RKO committee. ❄🤍
