Chair - Bernau Dijkstra
Heee! I'm Bernau Dijkstra and next year's chair of the (first!) lustrum board. I am 22 years old and study Psychology at the RUG. I grew up in Friesland, but left this beautiful province 1.5 years ago for the city of Groningen. That I am one of the Frisians on the board will surprise you, because you won't hear me speak a word Frisian. It is even so bad, that my father always talks Frisian to me and I just talk back Dutch (oops).
Last year the Ramenlappers came upon my path. I come from the tennis world, and have about 10 years of tennis experience behind me. Unfortunately, I lost the fun in this and then spontaneously made the switch to padel, even though I had never held a padel racket in my hand before. This was one of my best choices, because all I do on the padel court is purely enjoy (and hopefully win).
Besides padel, I also really enjoy doing other sports. For example, you can find me on mountain biking when the Fietselfstedentocht approaches. I now have three medals in my pocket and next year I will go for the fourth! I also sometimes sign up for an ACLO group class, such as jumping fitness, or book a squash court. In the rest of my free time I like to be creative, read a book or meet up with friends. I am also definitely not averse to a drink and you can find me on the dance floor at every opportunity.
Last year I did two committees, one within my study association VIP and within the Ramenlappers in the Accie. I learned a lot during this period and it was time for a new challenge: the board! I am looking forward to having a great year together with my other board members. Our focus will be on the involvement of (new) members and of course organizing the very first lustrum!
